Ian L. Springer is a book illustrator and creative consultant based in Maryland. He studied Illustration at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He has multiple children’s books published, including Every Day We Say, Where Could Mama Be? and Jasmin Pictures Home. His books are published by Shout Mouse Press and are sold in Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Books-A-Million, and various other book stores. His books are used within Washington D.C. Public School Systems within curriculums to teach children about diversity and inclusivity.
He has been interviewed by Apple for their 2024 Black Unity news article featured within the Apple News app. His work involves fantasy and uses exaggeration and linework to capture expressions and convey personality and emotion.
Springer also owns and directs a hybrid spatial design and design studio/firm, Matterhouse Studio, where he conducts creative consulting for visual artists and businesses. His company creates tangible visual experiences for clients through interior and spatial design.
He currently works as a Director of Marketing and Communications within the education sector full-time.
